This page explains how we research, write, and choose the products that appear on Pet Memory Lane. We wrote it down so you know what to expect from us.
How we choose products
We look for keepsakes that are made to last and described honestly. When we evaluate something, we ask the same set of questions:
- Is the material clearly stated, and will it hold up to how it’s used?
- Are the dimensions and sizing explained, or is the buyer left guessing?
- How long does customization take, and is that made clear up front?
- Does the product do what it claims, without exaggerating?
- Would we feel comfortable recommending it to a friend who is grieving?
We don’t accept payment to list a product, and we don’t accept payment to write a positive description. Commission rates don’t influence which products we choose or how we rank them.
How we write
We write for a person who is going through something hard, so we try to be warm and plain-spoken rather than clever or salesy. A few rules we hold ourselves to:
- We don’t claim a product is “the best” or “#1” without evidence, and we generally avoid that language altogether.
- We don’t invent ratings, review counts, or sales figures. If we don’t have a number, we say so.
- We state limitations and downsides, not just strengths.
- We keep the primary topic of each page clear, and we don’t stuff pages with keywords.
Accuracy and corrections
Retailers change prices, availability, and product details often. We try to keep our pages current, but the information on a retailer’s site is always the final word. If you spot something outdated or incorrect, let us know through our contact page, and we’ll fix it.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes what we write or recommend. The full details are in our affiliate disclosure.
Photos and images
The photographs on this site are stock images used to illustrate the general category of a product. They’re not photographs of the specific item we link to. Before you buy, always look at the actual product photos on the retailer’s site.
